Chinese poker until the sun comes up

Published by jmallen83 at 7:46 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

The other night was a pretty interesting one. My friend Darren’s birthday was this week and he held a party at his new house in Henderson. I didn’t know how many people would be there, or exactly who would be there, but I knew one thing was for sure; plenty of drinking would be taking place. Once I arrived I was bombared with greetings from old co-workers from Planet Hollywood Hotel. It was good to see a lot of the people so I went around, said hello, and went straight to the keg. Fast-forward 2 or 3 hours and I was absolutely raping the beer pong tables with Darren as my wingman. On multiple occasions we distracted our opponents enough to bounce 2 balls into their cups on the same turn. Finally, after getting lost all over the city and even somehow getting lost at the AIRPORT (how do you do that?), my good friend Stevie V showed up. I knew that my goal of not playing poker for this weekend was about to be shattered. What began as a friendly tournament between 4 of us turned into me and Steve sitting in the backyard playing Chinese poker at 6 in the morning, still attempting to kill a bottle of Bacardi. We started with stacks of 20 and within the first 10 hands I had him down to 1 dollar. I have no idea where I went wrong, but with a little bit of luck (a scoop with a straight flush on the bottom was huge for him), he was back in the mix with about 15 chips. I didn’t realize how much fun Chinese poker while drinking could be until I needed to go to sleep and could barely keep my eyes open, yet still wanted to keep playing. If you are a poker player and have never played Chinese, I highly recommend you do so!
